11 Aug Kids in the Kitchen
What can we do together in the fight against childhood obesity? Let’s start by involving kids and their parents in a hands-on environment that actually focuses on preparing healthy foods. The goal of the Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. and its member Leagues, is to promote child health and wellness by empowering children and youth to make healthy lifestyle choices, therefore preventing obesity and its associated health risks.
The Junior League of Sarasota promotes this initiative locally by empowering children in Kindergarten through 6th grade and their families to make healthy choices about nutrition and fitness and fight against childhood obesity.
Invite us for a hands-on, learning demonstration lasting 45 or 90 minutes.
During the 2013-2014 league year, the Kids in the Kitchen committee provided free nutrition demonstrations to the Girl Scouts, Girls Inc., and the Sarasota Ballet.
