Because the tradition of our Junior League Annual Dinner Meeting could not take place this year, an alternate “Virtual Celebration” was held on Tuesday, May 19, to mark the occasion. One hundred League members, both Active and Sustainers, joined in via their phones or computers as 2019-2020 President Alicia Chalmers, Executive Vice President Ella Lewis and Sustainer Vice President Lisa Beckstein reviewed accomplishments of the past League year. In addition, Melissa Hembree was passed the gavel to become 2020-2021 JLS President and Ashley Giasone is now serving as Executive Vice President.

A highlight each year at this time is the announcement of the Junior League of Sarasota Annual Awards.  Alicia, Ella and Lisa announced the award recipients for outstanding service during the 2019-2020 League year, with special thanks to Laura Mayhew-Purcell (Active) and Georgia Anderson (Sustainer) for coordinating the award nomination process.
