Advocacy – SPAC

The Junior Leagues of Florida’s State Public Affairs Committee (JLFL SPAC) has been the advocacy arm for the 24 Junior Leagues of Florida for the past 40 years. The committee has had a hand in successfully advocating for a number of political policies, including mandating bicycle helmets for children under the age of 16, the Environmental Growth Management Act of 1995, and the ‘911’ Emergency Medical System, as well as additional policies and legislation affecting the areas of child abuse, domestic violence, juvenile justice and education.

For the 2013-2014 legislative year, the Junior League of Sarasota’ public affairs committee, in conjunction with the JLFL SPAC, has voted to advocate for legislation related to the issues of at-risk youth, child safety and welfare, and health and hunger, which coincides with the Junior League of Sarasota’s current commitment to providing education, tools, and empowerment on issues relating to nutrition to the Sarasota area.
